Officer Scott Reid,
Aurora, IL Police Dept.

Hi my name is Scott Reid and I attended Encino [Elementary] for 3-6th grade (Class of 79).

I was on the web tonight and decided to look up my old school and saw you had a alumni section. Here are some things I remember about Encino.

I moved to Pacoima from Los Angeles in 1975. This is when LAUSD began busing kids to schools outside their neighborhoods. My teachers were Mrs. Cain, Mrs. Eich, Mrs. Campbell, and Mrs. Palmer. I remember all but Mrs. Eich’s class being in the old building. Mrs. Eich class was on the second floor of the outside building. I remember having lunch outside. Back then we had after school playground and we could stay and play after school and catch the late bus home. I would do that a lot to play with my friends. My best friend at Encino was Jamie Conway (Tim Conway’s son). I remember going to his house during after school playground to play because they lived around the block from the school.

I remember playing at the park across the street from the school and we would sneak over Ventura Blvd. to the store to buy candy. After graduating from Encino I went to Portola Junior High School for 7th grade, then my family moved to Chicago, Ill. before I started 8th grade. I still live in Illinois and am currently a police officer for the Aurora, Ill. Police Dept.  I'll always remember my years at Encino.

Thank you,
Scott Reid (Class of 79)
