Overview
Our after school Enrichment Program was launched in 2007 and is coordinated entirely by parent volunteers. In collaboration with multiple vendors we host a selection of classes ranging from art, culinary arts, dance, foreign language, music, sports, STEAM, theater and more.
During regular instruction, classes are conveniently held after school on the ECES campus.
The goal of offering these additional classes is to enrich the educational experience for the students at Encino Charter Elementary, as well as to raise much needed funds for other valuable school programs and materials. Over the years, the enrichment programs have brought in about 25-35% of our annual fundraising revenue.
Our students can exercise their minds and bodies while also giving back to the school - a win-win situation!

Enrichment Program Information
Class Schedule

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 3:00–4:00 PM

All classes are 1 hour long
Cancellations & Refunds

Classes may be canceled if enrollment minimums are not met.

A full refund will be issued if you cancel before the session begins.

A partial refund will be issued only if you cancel before the third class.
Student Procedures
-
Before class: Students will wait at the designated Enrichment Tables in the lunch pavilion.

Supervision will be provided by LAUSD aides.

Students may enjoy snack time (brought from home or received through the cafeteria — no purchase or sign-up required).

Enrichment teachers will pick up students from this location.

Dismissal: All students will be released from the Purple Gate (next to the main office).

After-school programs:

Students enrolled in on-campus programs will be escorted by an Enrichment teacher.

Students going to EPCC will be escorted together across the street by an Enrichment teacher.

1. Art on the Gogh! Grades: TK-5th
Instructor: ACE Enrichment Company
In this class, students will develop a further understanding of the world's most famous artists and the techniques they used to create their masterpieces. From Picasso’s bold shapes to Frida Kahlo’s intentional expressions, Art on the Gogh will take students on a journey through history. Each class we will explore the world of both two and three dimensional media using pencil, paint, oil, and more! Students will learn by following the instructor in a step-by-step method that allows them to see projects take shape from beginning to end. All ages and skill levels are welcome to create Art on the Gogh! All materials are provided.
2. Escape Room: Grades: 1st-5th

Do you like puzzles? How about working as a team to solve mysteries and master riddles to see if you have what it takes to beat the clock?! Inspired by the popular Escape Room concept, ACE ESCAPE is an interactive and team building class, focused on getting kids moving, thinking outside the box and working together! Each day a new story/challenge will be presented. Go undercover to expose a heist operation, see if you can unlock the mysteries of time travel, or escape the hull of a sinking pirate ship. In ACE ESCAPE, students will learn how to work together using logic and wit, to race the clock in order to solve whatever challenge or mystery the day might bring. So bring your brilliance and skills. Do you have what it takes to escape?
3. Hop Hop: Grades: K-5th
Instructor: ACE Enrichment Company
In this high-energy, age-appropriate class, kids will learn fun hip-hop techniques and combinations. This class will allow hip hoppers to have fun dancing to a variety of funky hip hop beats as they begin to develop their coordination, musicality, body awareness and overall performance. We will create a fun environment by using creative games, props, and engaging activities. All music is kid appropriate.
4. Playground Games: Grades: TK-5th
Instructor: Coach D’Mitri
Have fun with Coach as you rotate through classic games. Get ready for classic playground fun! Students will enjoy a variety of games including handball, four-square, kickball, and more. This class encourages teamwork, friendly competition, coordination, and plenty of active play.

1. Ballet: Grades TK-5th
Instructor: ACE Enrichment Company
Leap, twirl, and whirl into beginning ballet! Ballet helps young children develop and improve their balance, coordination, and self-esteem. The creative movement aspect of this class will encourage children to use their imaginations and help nurture self-expression in a fun and natural way. While the importance of ballet technique and theory will be taught, this class will also highlight the joyfulness and playfulness that dancing creates.
2. Intro to Basketball: Grades TK-5th
Instructor: Coach D’Mitri
A fun introduction to the fundamentals of basketball! Students will learn basic skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense while building teamwork, coordination, and confidence.
3. Persian in Fall & Winter: Yalda Celebration, Seasons & Creative Fun: Grades: TK-5
Instructor: Maliheh Barazesh
Join us for a fun and engaging Persian language learning experience inspired by the beauty of fall and winter!
Through interactive games, stories, art projects, and hands-on activities, children will explore seasonal vocabulary, celebrate the Persian tradition of Yalda Night, and discover winter symbols and traditions, including snowmen and Christmas trees. Designed for children with different levels of Persian proficiency, this class encourages language development, creativity, cultural awareness, and confidence in using Persian in a playful and supportive environment.
4. Culinary Kids: Grades: TK-5th

Welcome to the Culinary Arts where culinarians, artists and food-lovers come to create delicious edible creations. In Culinary Kids, we learn while we eat! Nutrition, preparation, presentation and flavors, we will explore new tastes and pairings, while perfecting our cutting and baking skills in a kid-friendly kitchen. From math to science, geography to culture, we will explore all the richness that comes with what has brought people together since the beginning of time
5. Merlin’s Magic Workshop: Grades: TK-5th

Magic is so much more than tricks and spells. It’s imagination, adventure and wondrous tales! Welcome to Merlin’s Magic Workshop, where we train all the greatest wizards. And maybe, just maybe, teach you to turn your cat into a lizard. So come along with us, watch tricks, practice and perform. Develop dexterity, creativity, confidence and learn to capture audiences by storm. Take a new trick home with you to practice each week. And be prepared to be admired as a great wizard of incredible mystique.

1. Comic Book Creators™: Superheroes: Grades: 1st-5th
Instructor: ACE Enrichment Company
This session, students will discover their inner Superhero through the creation of their very own comic book! In this awesome class, students will learn how to build characters, story, and the step by step process of creating a comic book. Through sketching, creating self-portraits, & developing backgrounds, you’ll transform yourself and your everyday surroundings into an amazing comic book. Our instructor will guide our illustrators as they Brainstorm, Storyboard, Pencil, Ink, and Color. After the session is over, the comic booklets are taken back to our studio and professionally edited and put together! When complete, the comic books will be delivered to the students and are theirs to keep
2. Soccer: Grades TK-5th
Instructor: Coach D’Mitri
Kick off the fun with an introduction to soccer! Students will learn fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control while developing teamwork and sportsmanship.
3. Super Science: Grades TK-5th
Instructor: Pat from High Touch High Tech
Every week a Hightouch Hightech scientist arrives to provide 60 minutes of totally hands-on, totally participatory, and totally FUN science and nature experiences. With science programs ranging in scope from archeology to zoology, children have the unique opportunity to experience a wide variety of science disciplines, all taught in a highly interactive, educational and engaging fashion. All programs are designed to align with Next Generation Science and meet STEM objectives.
During this material intensive program, our young scientists will work individually and in cooperative teams to learn about science and use science to solve problems. They will be introduced to and work with actual science tools and instruments ie- graduated cylinders, transfer pipettes, Microscale Vacuum Apparatus’s, Van De Graff generators and more.
At the end of each program, each child receives a program summary so the parents know what science concepts were covered and a take-home experiment they can share with family and friends.
Thursdays: 11/5, 11/19, 12/3, 12/10, 12/17, 1/14
1. Chess: Grades: K-5th
Instructor: ACE Enrichment Company
Checkmate! Chess has never been more fun! In this class, we introduce chess through exciting stories, games, and special techniques, allowing children to develop their skills in a short period of time. This class is great for all skill levels. Through this historic and challenging game, students will develop their analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Learn how to play chess for the first time or develop your current chess game – see you in class! All materials provided.
2. Intro to Flag Football: Grades TK-5th
Instructor: Coach D’Mitri
Get ready to learn the basics of flag football in a fun, active environment! Students will practice throwing, catching, passing, and basic game concepts while building coordination, teamwork, and confidence.
3. Musical Theatre: Mary Poppins - Grades TK - 2
Continued from Session 1. Remaining class dates: 10/22, 10/29, and 11/5. Performance will be Friday, November 6th at 4pm in the auditorium. Students will remain on campus like a normal enrichment class.

About Jubilee!
Founded by two Encino Charter parents (Morgan Smith and April Wish), Jubilee Theatre, LLC was created in 2024 to bring theatre to kids and adults in the West Valley. Jubilee offers musical theatre production classes for kids as well as professional performance opportunities, new works showcases and more for ALL ages.
4. Sewing & Embroidery: Grades: K-5th
Instructor: ACE Enrichment Company
Learn to hand sew and embroider with Miss Shannon’s Sewing Class! Children will learn how to sew on a button, the running stitch, back stitch and chain stitch. Patching and embellishing clothing is also taught by bringing in different projects to teach each skill. Projects include bags, hats, mini pillows, felt food or fuzzy softies. Students will receive their own sewing kit and all materials needed for class.
Fridays: 11/6, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18 (out early classes will be 1:30 - 2:30), 1/15
1. Animal Encounters: Grades: TK-5th
Instructor: ACE Enrichment Company
This session will focus on animals from North and South America or the “New World”. We will take students on an imaginary geographical journey through North and South America, discussing different ecosystems and the types of animals that live there. Please join us as we meet animals from high up in the Andes mountains, down into the jungles of South American and out into the farm lands of the United States. This session will include large lizards, snakes, colorful parrots and chinchillas to name a few!
2. World of Watercolor! Grades: TK-5th
Instructor: ACE Enrichment Company
Become the next Picasso or Monet in this awesome watercolor painting class! Students will learn basic drawing and painting techniques, get creative, and develop their own unique, artistic style. Using paintbrushes, sponges and more, students will experiment with different ways of applying paint to paper. Their imaginations will be put to the test to come up with unique compositions. Combining painting and drawing materials and techniques, students will create beautiful, mixed-media masterpieces! This class is beginner based and great for learning new drawing and painting skills. New and returning students are always encouraged.
